In Mold Labeling, one single step.
The IML system guarantees high aesthetic and functional quality. Labels can be printed using various technologies—flexo, gravure, screen printing, offset, or digital—depending on the required graphic performance. The system developed by TECHNE features automatic insertion of labels into the mold cavities by electro-mechanical robots equipped with gripping arms and suction pads, perfectly synchronized with the blow molding cycle.
The IML system does not require additional machines, adhesives, or dedicated personnel and eliminates post-molding labeling stages, reducing time, costs, and energy consumption. The result is a container that is already ready for the filling phase.

The IML system is ideal for the food, cosmetics, and industrial sectors, where hygiene, chemical resistance, and high-end aesthetics are required. In-mold labeling is particularly effective for premium bottles, flacons, and containers.
Labels can be produced using flexo, gravure, offset, screen printing, or digital printing. Offset printing, for example, provides excellent photographic quality, ideal for premium branding.
Yes. Since both the container and the label are made from the same material, the resulting packaging is 100% recyclable.
Among Pressure Sensitive Labeling, Heat Transfer, Sleeve, and IML systems, IML is considered the most sustainable because it does not require additional equipment compared to other technologies. In particular, IML does not require:
- Post-molding labeling machines;
- Additional adhesives (cold or hot);
- Extra personnel to operate labeling machines;
- Additional factory space for conveyors or labeling machines.
An IML-labeled container exits the blow molding machine with the label already integrated into the container wall. All other labeling methods require post-molding operations, either before or after filling, and some also require a release liner.
From a sustainability perspective, IML involves lower energy consumption and reduced labor while favoring the use of renewable resources.
