Laboratory Analysis
Dimensional Measurement – Mitutoyo.
Dimensional measurement is essential to verify the key dimensions (K dimensions) that define the fundamental characteristics of the container and the customer’s specific requirements.
The Mitutoyo coordinate measuring machine accurately detects dimensions at programmed points, providing detailed reports with nominal values for each K dimension, including minimum and maximum tolerances. This control is carried out starting from the very first produced samples.
The analysis of layers in co-extruded multilayer (COEX) containers evaluates radial distribution to ensure quality and resistance to aggressive substances. Layer percentages are defined according to customer requirements. This test ensures process repeatability from the initial phase to industrial production.
The Magna Mike gauge accurately measureswall thickness using an external magnetic probe and an internal sphere. These data make it possible to verify correct plastic distribution and optimize parison adjustment in the early stages of production.
This test evaluates container resistance to vertical loads by simulating filling and storage conditions. It prevents failures related to weight reduction, allowing production process adjustments while maintaining mechanical performance.
The Brimful Capacity quality control test determines the maximum container capacity, which is essential to prevent issues during transport and storage. The test involves weighing the empty container with a perforated disc on the neck, then filling it to nominal capacity and weighing it again.
Water is then added using a Pasteur pipette up to the maximum fill level, and the final weight is measured. The resulting value must comply with customer-specified tolerances to ensure product conformity.
The torsion test measures the resistance of the cap and neck of the jerrycan to torsional forces, ensuring proper opening and closing with a hermetic seal and no damage.
The stackability test verifies that jerrycans can support the weight of stacked containers without deformation or breakage, ensuring stability during transport and storage. This test is highly recommended for HDPE jerrycans produced using extrusion blow-molding technology.
The Profile Projector is a support tool for standard dimensional measurements and is particularly useful for detecting critical points on the container. This device projects an enlarged image of the bottle shape, enabling precise measurement of the finest container details.
