Neck to Neck

Neck to Neck (NTN) technology is the ideal solution for doubling the hourly production of small-sized bottles. It is widely used in the food and cosmetics industries.

Optimized blowing, doubled efficiency.

The Neck to Neck (NTN) configuration of the electric Extrusion Blow Molding machine enables the production of logs consisting of two containers joined at the center (at the point known as the “dome”).
Blowing takes place directly inside the mold through movable needles, unlike standard blowing, which uses traditional blow pins. This configuration makes it possible to double production efficiency and is the ideal solution for containers with a maximum capacity of 500 ml.

Target users:

Dairy product manufacturers

End producers of milk, yogurt, and probiotic bottles with high production volumes.

Food manufacturers

End producers of containers for ketchup, fruit juices, beverages, and food supplements with large production batches.

Cosmetics manufacturers

End producers of shampoos or personal care detergents with high production volumes.

Neck to neckl soluzione per grandi lotti produttivi di bottiglie in plastica

The ideal solution for large batches.

Neck to Neck technology offers manufacturers an ideal solution for managing high volumes. It allows output to be doubled while maintaining the same number of cavities, optimizes the mold for maximum efficiency, and ensures stable log production. It is ideal for producing containers up to 500 ml in the food, dairy, and cosmetics sectors.

Neck to Neck: 3 key advantages

Thanks to the Neck to Neck configuration, the mold is optimized to maximize machine efficiency.

With the same number of cavities, the NTN solution allows output to be doubled.

Possibility to produce multilayer containers up to COEX-6 using recycled plastic from production waste (domes and flash) or using up to 70% PCR.

    How does NTN blowing work?

Bottle blowing with the Neck to Neck (NTN) configuration differs from standard blowing by using movable needles for direct blowing inside the mold, without the use of blow pins. Logs are thus formed, consisting of two containers joined by a central dome.

The logs are removed from the mold by grippers that hold them by the flash and transfer them to the handling units. After the deflashing stage, the logs are placed on the conveyor belt by robots. Once separated, the finished containers are repositioned vertically on the conveyor belt to proceed with the subsequent stages of the production line.

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

    What are logs?

Logs are pairs of containers (bottles or container) joined together at the center by the dome.

How does NTN blowing differ from standard blowing?

Unlike the standard configuration, where blowing occurs through blow pins, Neck to Neck technology uses movable needles that blow directly into the dome located at the center of the logs.

How are the logs transferred from the handling unit to the conveyor belt?

From the handling unit, after the flash are cut, the logs are gripped by the upper dome by robots and placed horizontally on the conveyor belt. Subsequently, the containers are separated and oriented vertically.
